SON Cascina San Carlo

The SON center for mental fragility is a cluster of existing and new buildings, located in the outskirts of Milan, aimed at hosting families with elder parents, sons and daughters with mental disabilities. Sheltered accommodation for young fragile people will be provided, together with social activities carried out both in shared spaces — meeting spaces on the ground floor and common garden — and in a public pavilion.

Housing sociale Cascina Merlata

Built to temporarily host the representatives and the staff members of the countries participating to the 2015 Universal Exposition, the building is part of a dense residential quarter of high volumes alternating with communal gardens. The building is made of 56 dwellings, on 14 floors: common facilities for the residents are located on the ground floor.

Como Ferrari 19

The project deals to the refurbishment of a residential building dating back to the twentieth century, with a penthouse designed by Ico Parisi and built on the top layer in the 50s. A new colour palette has been chosen for the facades, retaining the contrast between the older building and its modernist addition. Three new elements have been grafted onto the existing building: a new storage room on the main façade; technical cabinets on the back façade – with colours and geometry recalling the latter additions designed by Ico Parisi-; a new window and new flooring

Background - Kingdom of Bahrain pavilion

The exhibition installation of the Kingdom of Bahrain pavilion at the 13th Biennale di Venezia consists of five projections of background imagery from Bahrain projected in simultaneous Venetian time. By isolating scenery which is normally supplemented by a news anchor, a news bar and sound commentary, the installation seeks to bring to the foreground what normally looms in the background. Through seemingly random scenes of Bahraini urban landscape, the installation evokes our construction of an imaginary of remote urban landscapes through their fragmented appearance in the media and in our living rooms.
