Founded in 1923 with the purpose of regulating intellectual professions of public interest for the good of citizens, the Order of Architects PPC of the province of Milan now counts more than 12,000 members is based in via Solferino 19, Milan.
Its current mission is to place itself at the service of consumers of architecture – professionals, the public and institutions- favouring good design insofar as it makes an essential contribution to quality of life within the spheres of the home, the city and the landscape.
In order to do this the Order, with its Foundation, has made design culture an all-encompassing cultural project. For professionals its website is a portal containing authoritative information on contemporary themes regarding the relationship between design and territory. The order also provides training and professional development support, implementing the principle of low cost high value, as well as offering essential information and consultancy regarding legal, ethical, disciplinary and managerial issues.
As for its work with the public, the Order promotes architectural studies and culture through meetings, conferences, guided visits and themed walks, exhibitions and events held at its headquarters and throughout the territory, publications and a library and study centre. It encourages the exchange of information and communication with the city, generating debates on the theme of territory and strengthening the dialogue between and with all stakeholders on a local, national and international level.
